Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know.
This quote really resonates with me at the moment in my life. While I have never had an official IQ test, the online tests I have completed show that my IQ is quite high. As much as I don’t want to believe them, the 4-5 tests I did have come up with an IQ greater than 130. Based on the typical bell curve associated with IQ, this would put me in the top 2.3% of people.
Specific testing would be required, but I may qualify for a Mensa membership, although as I said, the tests I have taken are given online & not in controlled environments, or official tests.
So given my current mental state of unhappiness, Ernest Hemmingway’s quote above is definitely indicative of how I feel at the moment, as well as what I have seen in my life.
I have done some reading on the internet, and people suggest that I should be happy as I have an above average income, I’m not restricted in what I can have because of money (to some degree). However my mental state suggests the complete opposite.
I suspect that there are some intelligent people who are happy with their lives, but then Ernest Hemmingway’s quote doesn’t rule happiness out, but suggests that it is rare to be seen.
Do you think you can see happiness in intelligent people?
